About The Street of Blue Plaques

Artist Danny Coope shines a spotlight into Fore Street’s past and gives us a glimpse into who actually made their home here in years gone by. Danny proves you don’t need to have been famous to be remembered.

Inspired by the classic design he’s made over 100 paper plaques to bring to life and celebrate some ordinary residents and their fascinating occupations. What do pizza and stewed eels have in common? What did Nimrod Barrett do? Where was the famous moorish Alcazar theatre? Visit Fore Street for yourself and see how many plaques you can spot!

Blue Plaques will be displayed in windows all along Fore Street from 27 April – 27 May; possibly longer if businesses decide to keep them up.
